Dear Robh, I faced the same issue with so many users in my customers exchange server, and i thought defrag will solve my problem, but it didn't , they this idea came into my mind, which solved my problem for good: 1. Under your Exchange Server create a new Storage Group, and new Mailbox Store. 2. Open Active Directory users and Computers and move the user mailbox which contains corrupted data from old Storage Group to the New Storage Group, but with one condition, when you start the move mailbox wizard, you need to choose to skip corrupted items or emails from being moved a long with the mailbox, i choosed to move the mailbox and skip up to 100 item or emails. 3. then start the moving of mailbox, which i am sure it will move successfully to the new mailbox store. 4. run your backup for only the new mailbox store and see if the backup finished successfully. 5. if yes, then move back your cleaned mailbox to its location and this time do not choose to skip any corrupted files, and to stop if there is any corruption on the mailbox. 6. run again the backup for the whole exchange server, and see the result. 7. if the backup finished successfully, then you have the choice to delete the storage group you created from these steps, or keep it to solve same issues for other users. another solution is to use Exmerge, this utility will let you export the emails from mailboxes into PST file, to know how to do it, please refer to the following Microsoft Link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260037/en-us please let me know if this post solves your problem or not. and let me know if you need more help.
