omerritt -> Priv.edb recovery with 4500 log files? (8.May2006 12:04:08 PM)

Hi everybody - I think I know what the answer will be to this, but I will ask the question anyway!

I have a customer whose server died (Exchange 2000 SP3) with no backups whatsoever - what I do have is just over 4500 transaction logs spanning three years of server use starting from E000001.log. However, eseutil reports that 10 files are corrupt and unusable and one has a log version mismatch. This is of course, file number 30 so the recovery fails almost immediately and I can only retrive about 2 weeks worth of mails.

My question - is there any way to selectively play back certain logs, or a utility to read individual log files. Would MS PSS be able to so anything to help as the customer would probably swallow the cost if it meant recovering 3 years of lost email!

Thanks

Oli

Have you tried using the ESEUTIL to recover mail and check consistency, it might then be possible to recover most of the mail otherwise its a lost cause...
