Hi

I'm just making my first foray into the world of exchange.

Set up the server on Windows 2000 and workstations and all internal mail is fine.

However I'm unable to send email via the internet. I know I'm missing something basic and simple.

My default gateway is the normal type "192.168.0.1" and the server logs onto the internet Ok

WHere in exchange server 5.5 do I tell it that the gateway is 192 etc

sorry if it's a daft question

thanks

Ian

I'm bemused that you're setting up a new 5.5 server - Exchange 2007 is nearly here, so in a few months you'll be 4 versions behind!  I'm surpirsed you even still have the install media.  How have you managed to license the server?

Have you installed the IMS (Internet Mail Services)?  This is how Exchange 5.5 talks to the Internet...

Hi

yes well 5.5 I know it's  obselete old and whatever. I found myself in a catch 22 situtation.

I very good client who has a friend whom he plays rugby and drinks with etc etc. They bought of ebay with 10 licenses cost them £55 a bit less than I quoted them for the latest version. I had two choices refuse and loose the job or .......

I need the money wife, kids birthdays, holidays etc etc.

To be fair they don't even need exchange it's a ten pc system and they are all in the same office.

thanks for the help off to post another question

Ian
