we have a number of exchange servers.  One of these servers gets a copy of all emails sent to it and is sent to a database outside our company.  This server queue gets jammed up a lot and we are always cleaning it up.  Messages allowed to it can be up 15000KB and we unfortunately cant decrease that.

I was hoping to set up something like another connector that will take the larger messages and forward them to another server in our domain that isnt as busy,

Any ideas on how this could be accomplished or any ideas on how we can speed up the queues and avoid jams

Thanks

I assume that you have a separate Outbound SMTP connector to handle the shipping to outside database.  These outbound connectors are under Routing Groups - Connectors in your Exchange System Manager.

If you do not, then you should probably consider having a separate outbound smtp instance to handle all of the email delivered to the offsite database.

In the properties of the SMTP Outbound connector, under Delivery Options, there is an option to Use a different delivery time for oversize messages.  Once you select the option, you can specify when these oversized emails will be sent and what is considered an oversize email.

Hope this helps.

thanks,

We actually do have a connector and have tried the different time frames for larger messages as well.  However still the same issues, we actually have microsoft looking into it now... have had them stumped for a week.

Cheers
