Mail Routing Using a Smarthost - 7.Jun.2006 8:48:14 PM

Hello

My environment consists of two exchange servers. I have configured a SMTP connector for internet addresses that uses a smarthost and uses server1 as a bridgehead. I have noticed that while server 2 uses the smarthost it is sending the mail itself rather than through the bridgehead. Is this the normal behaviour or have I misconfigured something?

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I have not specified the smart host in either virtual server. My understanding was that they should be left with the defaults and the smarthost should be specified in the SMTP connecter. My intent was to have all mail routed through server1 rather than have server2 connect to the smarthost directly.

Hi Bro,

I hope you may missed to change the cost value, which will decided to choose the SMTP smart host for routing among the availables. I would like you go through the following link of provided by msexchange.org to proceed further

Thanks for your help. It seems that Symantec Anti-virus 10 was causing the problem. I uninstalled it and mail started to route properly. It still seems to be working after a reinstall so hopefully problem won't resurface.
