I thought that it was possible to send SMTP emails from a remote device using Exchange 2003 Server but I have not been able to. I know that it is not the mobile device as it works fine sending SMTP emails from the likes of Gmail but I can not do it from my own Exchange 2003 Server.

I am able to receive via POP3 and IMAP4 ok, just not able to send via SMTP. I thought that I had to give Authenticated users permission on my Exchange 2003 Front End Server to "relay" emails but this has not worked, please help!

Hi,
Are you getting any error messages or error codes? Is SSL enabled? I believe it may have to do with certs on the device. LET ME INVESTIGATE.....

I have just been trying from my mobile phone at present which supports SMTP and I am not getting any error message's on it, just "Email sending failed". I have been able to get my hands on a mobile device which has Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 on it along with Pocket Outlook. I will be testing this today and will let you know how I get on.

SSL it not yet turned on for SMTP, IMAP4 or POP3, should it be?
