slate104 -> Best method for Deleted Items retention (23.Jun.2006 7:20:03 PM)

Hello, and thank you in advance to anyone that can help with this.

We are in an Exchange 2000 environment, and need to setup a policy so that once an e-mail is deleted (whether it be in deleted items or not)
it will only be available for 21 days! We have to be really careful about this, and have to make sure that once the 21 days are up an item is
not recoverable.

I am thinking that this needs to be setup with a Mailbox Management policy, but it is unclear to me wheter "age" in mailbox management will delete
things that are 21 days old rather then 21 days since being deleted. The thing that I need to stress is that it is 21 days from date of deletion.

The other way I was thinking of doing this is by setting up mailbox management to delete everything older then 1 day from deleted items so that it basically stays empty, then having deleted items retention set to 20 days.

Could someone please give me some direction.

Thank you,
JS
