Hi, Did you try anabling message tracking ? Did it show anything ? You've proably answered this, but is there anything in the event logs ? I would also turn on all of the Diagnostic Logging on the server for transport and the IS, then send a message and look through the event logs. Hopefully there will be some glaringly obvious error messages inn there Cheers

Unable to deliver this message because the follow error was encountered: "This message is a delivery status notification that cannot be delivered.". The specific error code was 0xC00402C7. The message sender was <>. The message was intended for the following recipients. user@company.com ideas there?

ORIGINAL: Arne Lovius It also might be worthwhile enabling message tracking to see if it can find where the inbound emails are failing http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821905/en-us not sure how i had missed that note before, but yes it was enabled and is logging. though the log files are a bit pesky to read in notepad. quote:
ORIGINAL: Arne Lovius Your error code is the error code for an NDR that annot be delivered http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306043 ok I looked at that article, I had somehow stumbled upon it earlier, but the techo speak about how SMTP can/maybe/does talk sort of blew over my head, and I really didnt get a feel for resolution. As the article kind of approaches the error in a generic sense. quote:
When an e-mail message cannot be delivered, Exchange generates a non-delivery report (NDR) delivery status notification message and then delivers this NDR message to the original message sender. If the NDR message cannot be successfully delivered, the NDR message is put in the Badmail folder. this would be the situation exactly.. the messages to old_server never show and the sender on new_server never gets a failure. thanks for the all the troubleshooting thus far, i feel like we are so so very close to finding the fix... keep with me.

I hope that this hasn't been posted already but Have you Checked the SMTP relay settings. Make sure the IP of the old server has been added to list.

Hi, I think you've reached the point in time where Microsoft PSS is going to be the sensible option. Cheers

Hi, I'm guessing that you're on the western side of the Atlantic, I'm on the eastern side, and I'm about to disappear for the weekend. I'd love to stay and work it through, but somebody else would be complaining.... Cheers

have I worn out my welcome yet? or is the collective thought of this forum - this is a lost cause?
