I have an Exchange 2000 SP3 Exchange Server. All mail is being sent & received without fail.

On Friday, one of the users starting receiving the message below, along with every incoming email. The incoming email was sent to user@domain1.com and not to the address or domain referenced in the mail below. All mail being received by the user is being forwarded to user@domain2.com, an email address for the users corresponding account on a different domain within the same Subnet.

There is no apparant forwarding in place on either Account, under AD properites.

The NDR email is still being received along with every incoming email

Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Name service error for name=Domain2.com type=A: Host not found>. The mail is from 'System Administrator' - I dont wish any mail to be forwarded, so I could block 'System Administrator' I would. There is no email address listed under Properties though. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi,

Could the automatic forwarding be being done by a server in front our your Exchange server ?

Could the forward be happening from an Outlook rule (running on the server)

It's not a local Outlook rule anyway

What is the path to your Exchnaae server that mail takes when it comes in from the internet ?

Hi,

Under Domainname/Routing Groups/First Routing Group/Connectors

There is mail.isp.com - under the properties of this, there are no apparant restrictions or explicit forwarding in place.

Hi,

The connector is for outbound email.

The SMTP virtual server handles inbound email.

Do you have an IP addresses that is forwarded directly to port 25 of your Exchange server that is your only MX record ?

Or does your email go through another server before reaching your Exchange server ?

All our email goes through our ISP first, our Exchange Server is NAT'd to a Public IP - 213.206.xxx.xx - is this what you mean??

Yes, thats what I mean.

Do you receive the NDR with internal as well as external email ?

Can you post the headers (cleaned appropriately) of one of the emails that you have a corresponding NDR for.

Hi, it's happening for internal aswell as external, this is why I think it's automatic routing somewhere

Hi,

If its happening for intenal as well as external then it will be something on your Exchange server that is doing this.

Is this happening for just one user ?

If it is, then it will be either in AD (check their setting in AD U&C on the Exchange server) , or in their mailbox, check to see if they have installed any 'extras' in Outlook, and recheck to see if they have added any Outlook rules.

Hi,

There are definitly no local rules in Outlook.

I've checked under all the Advanced Properties in AD U&C and there is no routing setup there either??
