I have some 60 messages stuck in our 'Internet Mail SMTP Connector (exchange name)' queue. The state of this queue is reading 'retry'.
I try to force the connection to this queue with no luck.

We are able to telnet to this domain but to me for some reason the message are able to be delivered to our exchange environment but exchange will not deliver the messages to the proper individuals.

Thoughts?

You have to try and figure out why they are in the queue. Look at the more information when you have the queue selected.

Is it unable to Bind in DNS? - Lookup error, is the domain name correct? Is DNS down at your ISP?

Is the remote server not responding? - Is the destination domain down? Are you on a BlackList?

Is the remote server dropping your connection? - Are emails you are trying to send being labelled as spam and therefore dropped? Or is your connection being dropped because the destination server is not allowing you to connect?

Once the queue is in Retry state, it will not try to connect again until the configured retry time has expired - even if new messages for the same destination come into the queue.
