pjbackman -> Information Store: Outlook Won't Open Unless Activesync is First Peformed (19.Aug.2006 8:52:23 PM)

I'm not sure this is entirely the right forum for this question, but it seemed the most appropriate. I am stuck in trying to Troubleshoot a Outlook 2003/Exchange2003 issue that I am at my wit's end over. The situation is this: I have a dedicated AD/Domain/Exchange 2003 server running on a Win2003 server box. My workstation is a WinXP Pro SP2 box with Office 2003 and Activesync installed on it, a recent install. I added the workstation to the domain I have setup for AD/Exchange, and Outlook is properly configured to access the mailbox setup on the Exchange server. But when I reboot the machine and launch Outlook to check mail, I receive "Information Store could not be opened..." error and Outlook fails to open. I am not using any SSL/Certification on the Exchange server (I may get around to it later, but for now it's not a priority). I have attempted numerous steps in troubleshooting the Outlook configuration to possibly solve the problem, including enabling RPC over HTTP on the Exchange server and attempting to connect that way. Regardless of configuration, nothing changes the outcome of getting the "Information store could not be opened..." error that invariably pops up. The catch is that if I connect my Motorola MPX220 smartphone to the Activesync, and attempt to synchronize, not only does it work properly, but then the moment synchronization is complete, I can open Outlook and access the information store on the Exchange Server without any hiccups or problems. I am now stuck trying to figure out why I am dependent on having to use Activesync (version 4.2) prior to opening Outlook to access mail on the Exchange Server. Does anyone have any ideas/advice as to why this may be happening, and even better, how to configure either Exchange or Outlook to prevent this from happening going forward? Any help would be appreciated.
