If a outlook 2003 client user is not at the office, we are used to activate the absence notification in the outlook client.
Because we are running exchange this is a server setting, which mean it will also work if the computer is turned off.

This absence notification works only for the mail send internally (in the same domain on the office). If a user receives a message from an external email address, the absence notification is not send to the external email address.

There should be a configuration setting to make which allow to send absence notifications to internal addresses as well al to external addresses.
