trevorc -> Installing a 2nd Exchange (27.Sep.2006 10:29:01 AM)

Hi,

A couple of months ago i had a corruption in my exchange db files and as a consequence i cannot backup my Information System. I tried repairing it using the NTDS.exe and other Exchange repair tools but it still kept the corruption. I now decided to install a 2nd exchange server and move all the mailboxes to it but when i start the Exchange Installation wizard, i get this message:

The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Install" because:
- Active Directory has not replicated all the necessary permissions for the deleted items container. Please wait untill replication completes before running setup.

I have tried installing it everyday for the last 10 days but i still keep on getting this message. I replicated all the DCs and deleted any extra objects in the metadata but still nothing. Anyone knows how i can add this bloody 2nd exchange server and get some peace of mind by backing up the store? I have more than 11Gb of mail and if it gets lost, it will be a disaster!

Thanks in advance.

Hi Trevor,

Not sure if this is your answer or not but is your account a member of "Domain admins", "Schema admins" and "Enterprise admins"? What Exchange service pack is installed? How about the underlying operating system, what OS and service pack?

I am sorry, i forgot to give you that type of info. Account is member of "Domain admins", "Schema admins" and "Enterprise admins". The server on which i am trying to install the 2nd Exchange 2K is Win2K Server SP4.
