Henk -> log files (9.Oct.2006 3:07:57 AM)

Hi,

is there a way to clear the log-files of the exchangedata to save some disk space?

Where are you seeing this in what directory and folder and what is the naming convention of these files? I'm thinking you're talking about the transaction log files which you should not touch. If you can provide the answers to my questions, we can know for sure. Are you sure you're getting full backups of your Exchange database?

The log files are in E:\ExchangeData\mdbdata
They look like this: E0003CB0.log

I'm not backing up exchange now.

Can I back it op with any program?

They are your Exchange transaction log files.  The correct way to remove these is to perform an Exchange online backup using an Exchange-aware backup program.  This is typically something like Backup Exec with the Exchange agent, although good old NTBackup run on the actual Exchange server will do the trick.  You need to make sure you backup the Exchange Information Store object and not the actual database files in the MDBDATA folder.
