After spending an entire day yesterday trying to get meet all the "requirements" to install Exchange 2007 beta, I finally managed to complete the installation process only realizing too late that there are other things that needed to be done before I should have even run setup to start with.

I am creating a virtual lab that consists of a Win2003 domain controller, a Win XP Pro machine, and the Exchange 2007 running on a Win2003 member server machine.

I have tried adding a new user but the option to add an Exchange mailbox isn't showing up.

Just wondering if anybody's bothered to write up a step-by-step guide on how to actually do an Exchange 2007 beta setup.  It would be awesome if somebody put together such document.

thanks a lot.

The option isn't showing up in the Exchange Mgmt Console or in Users and Computers??  I'm having a similar issue where it "seems" everything went ok with the install and there are EXchange Groups now in my AD Users and Computers but if I go to create a new user (or edit an existing one) there are no new tabs for email..

Same thing or different?

I also seemed to get messages at the end of my install that "Failed to Apply Active Directory Settings Using Default Settings instead" and trouble finding a DC.

Hi,

In Exchange 2007 you can only create mailboxes from the exchange management console (or the exchange management shell)

Got it.  Didn't realize it wasn't the "usual way" of creating a mailbox.  I'm installing Outlook now and excited to connect to this Exchange 2007 beta virtual server.
Thanks a lot for your responses.
