tstephens -> Removing Site Replication Service (31.Oct.2006 12:15:16 PM)

We are running AD 2000.
I upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to 2003.
Everything is running fine, but my Exchange 5.5 server has died.
When I go to remove the SRS it won't let me.
Can I remove it and the ADC from Active Directory Sites and Services, safely?

                                                    Thanks,

Delete 5.5 objects in this order:
1. Remove all ADC connectors and the ADC service
2. Remove the 5.5 servers from Exchange Manager
3. Remove SRS

When satisified (leave it a few days), then make Exchange 2000/3 native.

Hello,

my Exchange 2000 is already in Native mode. Is the way to remove the ADC then still the same as you mentioned?

Do you mean Windows Native or Exchange Native? See properties of Organisation name in Exchange manager. It should say something like:

Operations Mode: Native Mode (no pre-Exchange 2000 servers)

If you cannot remove SRS then you need to delete it using ADSIEdit.msc (see support tools), it should be should under Configuration container under Services, Microsoft Exchange. You can also delete the 5.5 server here as well.
