Any progress with this guide? We've just merged our company and I need to setup multiple domain hosting, so this guide would be very helpful. Any info on this is really hard to find.

ORIGINAL: GoldenDog Update to my last post: I followed the instructions, and everything seems to work for my hosted domain, however, in Outlook 2007, when you setup the Exchange account, Outlook anywhere can't automaticlly create the account. With manual settings, it seems to be working. I get a Sync error in Outlook 2007, saying 1:46:53 Microsoft Exchange offline address book 1:46:53 Not downloading Offline address book files. A server (URL) could not be located. 1:46:53 0X8004010F I wish I knew what URL it is referring to... but Outlook 2007 seems to be working. Any ideas? Outlook 2007 is dependent on the Autodiscover service working correctly for downloading OAB. There are several posts on this board discussing how to test it and what you need to do with DNS so that Outlook 2k7 will find the URL it's looking for.

ALL is working now!!!! I was on the phone with MS for about 2 hours today. they told me that they don't have documentation on setting it up for a hosted setup, but I have it documented now. My last problem was with IIS. I had anonymous access checked for the AutoDiscover portion in IIS, and it should have been unchecked. Not sure how I did this, but I do make mistakes like everyone else. Anyways, the document is done. Anyone want to write the portion on one SSL cert for multiple domains?

I would very much LOVE to see this 29 page guide it would make my whole world make sence, I am going nuts here tyring to get exchange 2007 with mutliple domains no matter what I do, when I go to add a user it only lets me select the domain for my AD, not any of the ones I have added :(

As long as the Exchange server has the domain you want to use in the Accepted Domains list, you can create the mailbox using the default domain, then open the mailbox properties, go to Email Addresses and uncheck "Automatically update email addresses based on email policy". You can then remove the existing address and add an address for the specific domain you want. I do this when creating addresses for other accepted domains in our mail server with no problems.

My DNS is setup fine, but I am only able to authenticate using the domain controller address, Im assuming this is normal but for a multi domain setup I would like users to be able to authenticate using there email addy instead of the domain, I get all my cert issues worked out now too and I got outlook anywhere working, still wondering how to add domains for auth.

If users are logging into the domain from their workstations, and you have an internal DNS record pointing to the mail server, you should be able to direct Outlook to the server and they never have to enter a name and password when opening Outlook once it's setup. If you're referring to users on the outside, there needs to be a DNS entry on the public side pointing to the same server. Outside users should never have to use the internal FQDN of the mail server.

I should of specified users outside of the domain, like lets take outlook 2007 for example, once I have it setup, whenver I launch it externalley it prompts me with a windows login box and I have to enter corp.ad.mydomain.com\myname and my password but I lets say I was hosting email for some other company I would want them to be able to authenticate using there own email address ? I am guessing this is an active directory thing that im missing, do I need seperate domain controllers for each domain I would plan on hosting for another company if I want them to be able to authenticate using there mail addy instead of the name of the domain controller ?

Assuming you already have AD accounts for those users, you could allow POP or IMAP access for them and they can configure mail clients with the username/passwords to authenticate. If they want full Outlook functionality with their organization, there is a good article here on msexchange about setting up shared hosting on Exch 2003: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Shared_Hosting_Exchange_2003_Part1.html Perhaps that will give you a better understanding of how it is typically done using AD. It would help if the guide that was mentioned was actually posted.
