Hey there..  I was wondering if anyone has managed to get the Exchange 2003 System Management Tools installed and running on a Windows Vista system?  I am currently running a secondary box here with Windows Vista Business edition (RTM from MS MVLS site) and I am having problems getting it installed.  When I try to install, it keeps giving me an error message when I try to select Install on the tools.  The message is:

"The Internet Information Services Snap-In component of the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not installed or disabled."

I have installed AdminPak.msi from Windows Server 2003 R2 and I have also turned on the following in Vista which I thought would cover thisproblem:

IIS 6 Management Compatibility
   IIS 6 Management Console
   IIS 6 Scripting Tools
   IIS 6 WMI Compatibility
IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibiltiy
IIS Management Console

Has anyone managed to get this working yet?  I am really surprised I have not been able to find any info on this yet as I figured a bunch of admins would have already tested this.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm currently working through something but am having limited success. I've got as far as the EXBPA working on there with the.net framework 1.1 but ESM is a challenge so far eluding me.

Any solution available to this problem?

Just like the OP I have installed Windows Vista Business, Windows Server 2003 AdminPak, and IIS6 but am unable to install the Exchange 2k3 ESM tools.

I get the same error message:

"The Internet Information Services Snap-In component of the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not installed or disabled."

Has anyone found any information on this or workarounds?  I have looked high and low and have stopped short at calling Microsoft for direction.

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to figure this one out as well, I'm trying to get around the IIS messages as well and having no luck. I've got a Vista machine I'm willing to try out some ideas on that I'm not worried about tearing up...

I have been trying to do this as well.

I used Process Monitor to see what key the setup.exe for Exchange was looking for, and I cheated by exporting that key (HKLM\Microsoft\Exchange\Setup) from my XP machine and imported it in Vista.  Immediately the installer was happy, did its thing, and installed the Exchange tools.  Now to see if they work...
