HI
I need to make a Schedual Backup for Exchange ..
But I wonder does the incrimetal Backup for the Information store work or not as the incrimetal  backup check if the file has been changed .. and the exchange database allways being changed

THanks

The different types of backups are meaningful for how you can restore, the amount of media space required, and flushing out the transactional logs.  How you backup your InfoStore depends upon how you want to balance your resources and your recovery time.

Full backup = The entire Store can be restored from a full backup.  It takes up the greatest amount of media (tape) space.  When complete it flushes out the transactional logs.

Differential backup = All of the changes since the last full backup are recorded.  As each time period elapses, the amount of media space will grow.  The logs are not flushed.  To restore, you need the last full backup and the last differential backup.

Incremental backup = All of the changes since the last full or the last incremental backup are recorded.  The amount of media space required will vary as only the most recent changes are recorded.  The logs are flushed.  To restore, you need the last full backup, and every subsequent incremental backup.

The incremental back up works fine.

But it doesn't keep the databases... only the log files !

It's very fast but keep in mind what uemurad said

Incremental Backup will surely work for Exchange..It would back up only the log files and not the database. And also it would truncate the log files that it has backed. Note that incremental backup is not possible if circular logging is enabled.
