I was wondering if anyone would have suggestions for a 3rd party software application to use for an MS Exchange 2003 disaster recovery on SBS 2003.  I have attempted a backup and a recovery without success.  The attempt was on nonsimilar (hardware) servers.

If anyone has suggestions, or pros/cons of applications designed for this, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi,

You can use Offline restoration. First, backup 4 files - priv.edb, pub.edb, priv.sdm, and pub sdm. Second, Install a new server with exchange installation. Third, in storage group, bring mailbox and public folder offline. Forth, copy over the above 4 files to the new server. Fifth, replace the original 4 files with these newly copied files. Sixth, bring back both pub and priv online again.

Before you can replace these 4 files and offline the storage groups, you have to stop the info store service.

Alternative, you can follow the instrustion from SBS 2003 swing migration. I don't remember where can i get this, but you have to pay for it. SBS 2003 swing migration teach you how to replace the old sbs 2000 server to sbs 2003 server, and retained AD domain, name, dns namespace, exchange organisation.

Advanced Exchange Recoveryworks quite excellent, as a suggestion for a 3rd party software application to use for an MS Exchange 2003 disaster recovery.
I've used it for several months.

If anything goes wrong in EDB database files, corruption in Exchange Server occurs which makes all emails inaccessible. The email messages, contacts and other items may go unusable unless the Exchange Server is repaired. To perform Exchange recovery, you can implement some manual methods. If those methods fail, you certainly need to use commercial recovery software for repairing EDB database files. You can use Kernel for Exchange recovery software for the same. http://www.repairexchange.net/

For Exchange 2003 Server Recovery, I would suggest Stellar Phoenix Exchange Server Recovery. The software is quite powerful and has an interactive GUI. The demo version of the tool is available for free download. You can preview the items before recovery.

Online marketplace has variety of tools for exchange edb recovery. Few are very expensive few are reasonable and few are free of cost. Whenever you go for such tool, several things are there to check out with all tools.

FREE Tools, must check is it safe and secure because many torrents are available that hack crucial information from you pc and hanged the whole application. I know 2 free application

Exmerge (Microsoft utility)
Powershell (Included with Exchange already)

Commercial tools are also there in same way. Apart from safe & secure, several things are need to check.

Easily installable
Support of both install & uninstall
Zero data skipping
Latest editions compatibility
Supports all edb recovery (Priv, Pub, Archive, Mailbox database etc)

By evaluating all above terms, I deployed PCVITA EDB CONVERTER that has all attributes to perform exchange edb recovery up-to the mark. Few reference to go with this application are:

Even I passed across the same situation at that time I was new to Exchange 2010, but first when I had Exchange database corrupted then I online exported them to pst files. But when the same issues occurred my Exchange was worn out or may but defunct due to improper install/uninstall steps then As Exemerge was not more available in 2010 and also not a good option to go, I goolged many solutions and made decision to go for commercial exchange edb recovery tool. It was all in my budget & was very easy for me to operate.... it can work out as a good alternative to all Exchange 2010 database corruption victims like me. These are the locations where it is hosted:

A Best Exchange Recovery Software

Had the Great experience with edb to pst converter application that speedily extracted mailboxes from offline Exchange database. No other software stands in comparison to this application due to following reasons:

1. Very Easy to Operate
2. Less time consuming with less conversion steps
3. Multiple mailboxes recovery at 1 time
4. Skip mailbox option to exclude any mailbox run time
5. This EDB conversion tool stands up-to-the-mark & maintains data integrity!
