I had the same problem. OWA was working perfect on the Exchange server. Certificate was fine. The problem occured when I logged on the ISA 2006 server. It seemed like the ISA server wasn't authenticating correctly. After many hours of searching I came with the following solution: When you're trying to authenticate via ISA server then you don't need de Exchange Forms Basic Authentication (under HTTP Protocoll in Exchange System Manager). So I disabled it and everything was working perfectly. Kind regards

I checked Exchange System Manager. Forms Basic Authentication was not checked. PJ, when you say undo all the changes, do you mean to delete anything I've set up in ISA since I installed it? I did that once, I'll certainly be glad to do it again. I haven't seen much documentation on how my single back-end Exchange server should be set. There may be some settings there that are incorrect. Anybody have a good link I could check out?

For backend servers: a) Configure default limits for mailboxes. b) make sure HTTP, IMAP, POP3 and SMTP protocols are enabled. Enable NNTP if using Public Folders. OWA will not work if HTTP is disabled on back end servers. c) Make sure transaction logs and databases are not on the same disk. Makes disaster recovery easier. d) Set up Global Settings and Mobile settings for message limits and mobile access. Other than that, the rest is up to you. Have a Happy Christmas and New Year, by the way!
