There used to be rpctrace, but it's not available anymore from my understanding at least publicly.

I have noticed that the RUS is running on a DC that has is not a GC. It is also running in "always run mode" Does the RUS server need to be a GC - does this increase performance ? Does changing the frequency of this object increase performance. Having a single domain all on one site - the rus was working alot faster than the 15 minutes it was supposed to take. After creating new users - the email addressses in AD would appear about 1 minute later, is this normal ?

Contra, is KVS running on the same box as Exchange - if so, have you tried closing down all of the KVS services. Also, one of the key parts of KVS is MSMQ services, which can become quite intensive. Another point is that if KVS is on the same box (only if) would I be right in assuming that SQL server is installed on this server as well? Lets us know, thanks

KVS Vault is running on another server. We tried a night with it turned off to find it was still causing the issue. There is however, good news. I rang McAfee to get a new version of groupshield - and they mentioned that the version I was using had a few RPC issues with newer version of exchange...before I even metioned the issues I was having. I remmoved groupshield last night - and ran the performance monitor for 8 hours last night - with no RPC averaged latency spikes over 38 ! (before there was spikes of up to 1300 every 10 minutes or so.) Waiting on installing the newer version, until I am sure it was groupshield causing the issue. We are protected through two external email systems anyway, as well as anti virus client on the machine. Will let you know how the users are feeling today.
