f.cannillo -> Understanding CCR (2.Jan.2007 5:22:45 AM)

Hi everybody,

I've got few questions before install CCR.
I would like to install 2 or 3 nodes of CCR in my organization, but i would like to place this node in 2 or 3 different places.
My question are:
1- is it possible to setup this configuration?
2- is it necessary an Hub Transport Server per each location??
3- if I had to install 2 or 3 Hub Transport Server, on witch HTS i had to put File share witness?
4- Could i put, like "edge transport server", a Barracuda 300 spam filter?
Many thanks
Bye

Hi f.cannillo,

1) Currently CCR is limited to two nodes only.
2) Since having each node in the CCR in two different locations, requires that you stretch your subnet (as they currently needs to belong to the same subnet), only one HT is required.
3) Actually you can configure the Majority Node Set (MNS) Quorum on any HT in your org, as long as it belongs to the same subnet.
4) I don't think I understand this question?

Hi Henrik,
thanks a lot to answer me.

About HT, i have last question.
If HT crashed, what's happen to the cluster.
I couldn't send email, is it correct?

And if i have 2 different location for example:
DataCenter1
Node A (active)   ------------ Cluster (E2K7CCR)
HT 1 (+CAS)    (MNS) Quorum

DataCenter2
Node B (passive) -------------
HT 2 (+CAS)

if i lose HT 1, should E2K7CCR be able to send emal trought HT 2? and could customer read email ?
What happend to MNS Quorum?

Many thanks Henrik.
Have a nice day.
Bye

When you sent an e-mail the mailbox server will try to deliver it to the first HT, and if this server doesn't answer then try the second one. The MNS quorum is only used doing a fail-over etc. so users will not be impacted by failed HT on which the MNS quorum is configured.

what is the CCR requirement hardware and software?
and is it need the OS support clustering??
