global address not updating under Outlook cache mode - 2.Jan.2007 7:16:57 PM
Platform: Exchange 2003 SP2 Client: Outlook 2003 cache mode
Happy New Year, Everyone!!!
Pardon my ignorance if this topic has been covered. I tried the search function but couldn't come up with anything.
Here the problem:
Most people here run Outlook 2003 under cache mode. I, however, don't use cache. I added a user who was hidden from the address book - I unchecked hide from address book.
Everyone who doesn't use cache can find the person in the Global Address Book. Those who are on cache mode can't see them. I even updated their address book by going to Outlook\tools\Send Receive\Download Address Book\; however, that did not help.
In cached mode, users will appear the next morning. Exchange rebuilds the Offline address book at 4am(i think). If you want to force a manual update..
Expand Recipients, click on Offline Address List. Right click on Default Offline Address List in the right pane. Click Rebuild. The Rebuild could take some time depending on how many users you have.
To get the new users to appear in outlook once the rebuild has been done: Open Outlook, Click Tools --> Send/Receive --> Download Address Book. Then place a check in Download Changes since last Send/Receive. Click OK. The new OAL will download
