svla299 -> I can send but cannot receive mail (26.Mar.2007 1:10:32 PM)

I'm supporting an Exchange Server 5.5 installed on a Win 2000 SP4 Advanced Server. There is a registered domain and mail server : www.lazarakis.gr and hermes.lazarakis.gr under the same static IP. People used to send and receive mail thru an ISDN line until recently when the line was upgraded to a ADSL static ( 83.235.17.208) with a different ISP. The new IP resolves to klazarak.static.otenet.gr whereas the MX record for the mail server is:
100 hermes.lazarakis.gr. [TTL=86400] IP=83.235.17.208 [TTL=86400] [GR]. I've made all necessary changes to DNS in the server but  so far have managed to send but not receive mail. Problem lies in hermes.lazarakis.gr vs klazarak.static.otenet.gr. Where can I declare this equivalence so that I can solve the problem? Any ideas will be appreciated.

It sounds like you need to change your public DNS records so that your domain resolves to your new IP address from the Internet.

zbnet thank you for your assistance. I have followed along the lines of your post!
I have contacted both the ISP and the DN registrar. The ISP was unwilling to change the name his IP resolved to. The registar was unable to create a PTR for the name given by the ISP. So I've decided to dump the ISP and bought a new static IP with the registar. The problem resolved instantly and mail flows within !!! I still can't understand whose fault was. I think it was the ISP's: his technical people were unwilling to help - they told me I did something wrong and should call for expert help! Anyway all's well that ends well! Have a happy easter.
