I was forced to do a migration from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. During the migration, I blew up two mailboxes. Now that I moved all of the mailboxes over to the 2003 box, I did a restore from tape to recover the two mailboxes. I tried to use the EXMerge tools to extract the two mailboxes but it keeps exporting the mailbox that’s on the 2003 box instead of the 5.5. I then disable the nic card and when I tried to use extract the mailboxes, I get a permission error. I can’t install the exchange 5.5 with SP4 because I don’t have the prior SP1,2 or 3 which is require before SP4. So I can’t install Exchange in a new organization. I see both mailboxes and the sizes through the Exchange Management Console. How can I recover these two mailboxes?

Not quite sure I know what you mean when you say you blew up two 5.5 mailboxes - what exactly were the symptoms of the problem you had? If you're having problems with the ExMerge that comes with Exchange 2003, you could always use the old 5.5 verion - get it from http://exchange.mvps.org/Exmerge.htm Your comment about rebuilding a 5.5 SP4 environment to do a restore to: SP4 is cumulative, so you don't need the previous service packs installed to load it.
