Sunny.C -> OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (12.Apr.2007 2:10:35 AM)

Hi Guys,

I need help as i face this problem once again, "loading" error.
I fixed this problem in the past by removing the exchange server from the domain and then reinstalling from scratch.
Currently i have tried reseting the IIS folders but have had no luck, the page still does not load properly and i still get the error below....
What can i do or try to fix this problem. It is a stand alone system.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeMU
Event Category: General
Event ID: 1040
Date: 11/20/2004
Time: 8:41:38 PM
User: N/A
Computer: MAIL1
Description:
Metabase Update failed replication 5 times with error 80070003 (The system cannot find the path specified.). Please change the diagnostic logging level of MSExchangeMU to 'minimum' or greater to find the source of the problem.

Ok i can not really explain this but i have seem to have fixed half the problem.[:)]
I am hoping the Pro's explain what might have been the fix to this so here it goes.
After my second attempt at recreating the IIS folders and then rebooting ther server
OWA seems to be working..???...??[:-] Anyone know what might have been the problem here?

The only thing now is that i still have the Event id error 1040, how can i determine what is causing it and fix it?
I have already edited the registry to log the highest level of exchange faults but nothing seem to pop up. ANy ideas?

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (13.Apr.2007 1:23:22 AM)

Ok now i am getting [:@]!
It's gone back to the "loading" error a nd i think the key to fix this is to fix the event id 1040 first. Any ideas?

How many exchange servers are there with you?
You have a get a good working OWA on the Back-end server before accessing that via the front-end servers
On the BE server:
============
* Are you able to access any images "pagerror.gif"
* Try accessing iisstart.hm
* Then what is the status of a sample asp page
========
<%=now%>
========
paste the above line in a notepad, save that as time.asp at c:\inetpub\wwwroot location
From IIS, try accessing this time.asp
Then, try accessing OWA from BE servers.

If still loading, access from any other client machines
*Try, trusting the URL from the clients browser

*do you have any Antivirus installed on the BE servers?
Can you disable the same and try OWA?

If not, atleast exclude all the exchange related folders from AV.

Try the following article,  if the username and passwords for the IUSR_ComputerName and IWAM_ComputerName accounts are out of synch within the IIS metabase and User Manager, you will get the loading issue.

PRB: Configured Identity Is Incorrect for IWAM Account

After changing the passwords it seems to be working but i need to monitor it for 1-2 days. However the event id 1040 is still appearing in the logs, what could be causing this problem?

jchong -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (16.Apr.2007 2:41:20 PM)

The fix will prob work but break again if you're having metabase update issues, the passwords will again be out of synch. What is the last thing that you did? Did you reinstall\install change anything?

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (16.Apr.2007 6:42:27 PM)

Yes it looks like it did break again.
Yes the last thing i did was rebuild the OWA folders and Reinstall Exchange.
WHat should i do next?

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (17.Apr.2007 7:24:41 PM)

Update:
Ok i have managed to fix OWA from breaking by removing IIS and reinstalling exchange. That part seems to be stable now but i am still getting error id 1040[:@]
Any ideas?

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (18.Apr.2007 1:46:26 AM)

No good[:@]
It's broken again with "loading" error and still having 1040 error.
Should i do a full exchange remove and reinstall from scratch?
Running out of ideas, please help.

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (18.Apr.2007 8:45:48 AM)

Okkk i have finally got rid of the 1040 error message by removing the smtp connector and so far it's all good. OWA is also fine but i will have to see how it
all goes. Any ideas why the smtp connector would have fixed the 1040 error?

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 12:20:27 AM)

OWA "loading" error is back again!!!
Does anyone know how to fix this or not?

sergebsn -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 1:48:54 AM)

Hi!
Which errors do you have?
This: An error occurred while starting the Microsoft Exchange IMAP4 Service: the call to IIS_SERVICE::StartServiceOperation() failed with error 0x8007077f. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp

Or maybe this:
The rule (<rule id>) with sequence number <value> is being disabled due to errors encountered while applying the rule. The distinguished name of the owning mailbox is <mailbox name>. Database "<name>".

Or this:
The rule (<rule>) with sequence number <number> is being disabled due to errors encountered while applying the rule. The distinguished name of the owning mailbox is ---. Database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)".

Can you describe you error accurately?

sergebsn -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 3:29:44 AM)

Sorry Sunny C... not detect your first post.[:)]

sergebsn -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 3:35:06 AM)

Can you change logging level of MSExchangeMU to Maximum or to level 7, and then see error log.

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 9:17:11 AM)

Like i said before i do not get error 1040 after i removed my smtp connector.
How ever i am still stuck with the "loading" error when i try and login OWA.
What should i do??
Changing the logging to level 7 makes no difference i get no errors in logs.

Ideas?  i need to fix this urgently.

Sunny.C -> RE: OWA "loading" & Event id:1040 error (20.Apr.2007 10:11:28 AM)

I starting to think that my only option is to remove exchange and IIS???
Start from scratch and then import user messages from backup?
What do you guys think?
Should i fully remove exchange and reinstall?
