Hello Experts!,
Hope all r doing fine.
I am really not sure if this is right or wrong, trying to add multiple websites on my winserver 2003 with Ex2003. want all websites to be hosted on hosting provider server and email server should be my inhouse exchange server.
by anyways is this possible? can someone guide me please.

Your original question isn't clear to me.  If you are asking for advice on adding websites onto an Exchange server, I'd advise against it.  Put the websites on a separate server.

No, I dont mean by hosting my website on exchange.

My problem is something like shared hosting, If i have 2-3 domains hosted by other hosting provider and i want to use my inhouse exchange 2003 as email, so for this how i can go ahead, I have real IP on exchange server. I have access to control panel of hosting provider, now what to do with MX records, I am not clear with these DNS things too much.. thats why seeking for some hepling hand.

If you've made the decision to host your own Email, then you need the following:

1.  A publically routable IP address that points to your environment.
2.  A DNS "A" record associating a FQDN to your IP address from #1 (e.g. mail.mydomain.com xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
3.  A DNS "MX" record pointing to the "A" record in #2
4.  A DNS "PTR" record associating your IP address from #1 to your "A" record in #2 (this is normally created at the same time as the "A" record.
5.  Your mail gateway (or Exchange server) must own the IP address from #1

Is that what you mean?

Ok, here are the things that I have right now..
1. Exchange 2003 on windows 2003 OS with Real IP:212.33.158.84

2. In my control panel from hosting provider, I have created a sub-domain as mail.companyname.com

3. In DNS settings, for "A" record for mail.companyname.com, I gave IP : 212.33.158.84 (sames as the IP of my exchange server)

4. In DNS settings, for "MX" Record, I submitted : mail.companyname.com    10

I Hope till here I have done right?

Please point out if there is any mistake I have done or any thing i am missing..

I think you meant to say you created a FQDN and not a sub-domain.  A sub-domain would mean that addresses would show up as username@mail.companyname.com instead of username@company.com.

Otherwise, your DNS settings sound good.

I am having shared hosting account with 1and1.com their support is really bad, whatever.

mail.companyname.com should be an "A" record in your DNS zone.  FQDN is just the abbreviation for Fully Qualified Domain Name.  You took care of this with #3.

Unless you intend to have a sub-domain (a.k.a. child domain), you didn't need to create one.

b4 start my post here, I saw in faq help file of hosting provider http://faq.1and1.com/domains/dns_settings/10.html 

along with your guidance i did all things, in MX i put just mail.deemah.org thats it, no second MX, just one...

but i am still confused

All looks fine.  Outlook Web Access (OWA) uses port 80, so when you connect using http:, that's what you're seeing.

When a mail system connects, it uses SMTP (port 25).  Your Exchange server is responding properly.

Outlook Web Access (OWA) connects using HTTP (port 80), so when you use the link, it works properly.

Other mail servers will connect using SMTP (port 25).  That also seems to be working properly.

For now I am going through one of the article posted as Hosting Multiple SMTP Domains on Exchange 2000 to add both domain of company..

I am also not able to send or receive emails outside to internet. Internal is working perfect.

Please elaborate on this.  Does this concern the original SMTP domain or the second?  What happens when you attempt to send outbound?  What happens when you attempt to send inbound?

there is just a default recepient policy, and I have already run through send and receive internet email wizard. This wizard has created Internet smtp virtual server. and default smtp virtual server is also there.
I dont know how to troubleshoot when i send inbound and outbound :-(
Default recepient policy's priority is lowest.

When you try to send a message to an outside address, describe what happens?  Do you get an NDR?  Does the message sit in a queue on your Exchange server?  Have you activated Message Tracking and have you checked to see what it says?

Same thing if you try to send a message from an outside address (describe what happens).

Download and run the Best Practices Analyzer (ExBPA) and the Troubleshooting Assistant (ExTRA) from Microsoft:

Sorry uemurad,

we need to rollback a little.. actually i got BSD on server and it was not recovering..
reinstalled OS and exchange.. :-D , sorry....

while installation of Exchange in DNS registration diagnosis got this message..

The zone was: deemah.org

and I selected to configure DNS later on..
but i dont find DNS on system :-(

do I have to register my IP on some other DNS server? with Hosting provider?

right now i am not able to access http://mail.deemah.org  yeah may be coz there is no DNS registered?

I can access by IP http://212.33.168.85/exchange 

now able to send email to internet.. not able to receive from net.. may be coz other mail servers are not able to find which IP is responsible for handling email of deemah.org? i guess this is DNS issue.. am i right? I have send to deemah.org from yahoo account not yet got NDR back. must be email hanging somehwere on internet :-))

Your DNS entry does not match your IP address.  Contact your DNS host to make sure they have set up what you need.
