Failed to create a new named property for database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (XXXXXXX)" because the number of named properties reached the quota limit (8192).
 User attempting to create the named property: "XXXXXX"
 Named property GUID: 00020386-0000-0000-c000-000000000046
 Named property name/id: "X-GCE"
 
Please let me know if anyone has run into this error being in their Application Log and what you have done to remedy the problem.

Thanks for the reply.  I've read that article several times but I'm looking for the root cause of the issue that article seems to just provide a temporary fix to the problem.  I also don't like how they don't recommend a safe size to increase the quota's too knowing that increasing the size make us more vulnerable to attacks.

Reason for this could be some mapi or non-mapi request is getting generated and may have been using the name property for this database. For example blackberry account which generated non-mapi request.

In short, the ability to use SMTP x-headers is part of RFC standard spec. so we can't prevent them from being used by anyone (third party applications, etc) but we can limit the number of named properties that result from conversion/promotion of the x-headers in the store to prevent effective denial of service attack and that's why we have the quota.
