RPC over HTTP (Exception 1722) - 5.Jun.2007 5:45:33 AM

I have the following setup...

1x FE exchange 2003 Server
1x BE exchange 2003 Server
1x DC 2003 Server

I have setup the front end back, end server and OWA works fine, I get the correct results when I go to https://server/rpc/rpcproxy.dll etc.

But I cannot for the life of me get the rpc over http in outlook to work, I have followed all the guides about setting up outlook with no luck. Troubleshooting the problem I've found that I CAN ping the rpc server when I use the following command...

rpcping -t ncacn_http -s mail.domain -o RpcProxy=mail.domain -P "test,domain,*" -I "test,domain,*" -H 1 -u 10 -a connect -F 3 -v 3 -E -R none

However when I try and rpcping the individual ports
rpcping -t ncacn_http -s mail.domain -o RpcProxy=mail.domain -P "test,domain,*" -I "test,domain,*" -H 1 -u 10 -a connect -F 3 -v 3 -e 6001

I get the error message "Exception 1722" which according to the MS support indicates a problem with the ValidPorts registry key.

My current ValidPorts registry on the FE server is...

CIDBXEXCH01 is the BE server

I'm pretty much stuck now as what to try, any suggestions?
Also if I make changes to the registry key do I need to restart the server before they are effective?

Hope someone can help.

From what you wrote, it shows port 6004 is pointing to the backend server but port 6004 should be pointing to your global catalog server. Make sure you have entered the port 6004 in the registry of the DC/GC.
