hotlink -> Win2003 SP2 Blocked RUS(Recipient Update Service) - c0072141 (11.Jun.2007 12:28:17 AM)

If child domain updated to Win2003 SP2 then
the Exchange RUS (Recipient Update Service) will not work for Child Domain.

The specified group type is invalid.
Facility: Win32
ID no: c0072141
Exchange System Manager

Can't find any solution from Microsoft, anyone got any idea to solve?
We cannot degrade SP2 to SP1 right!!!

hi,

Do you have any GC in your child domain if not please upgrade one DC as GC. If so then check whether child domain servers are communicating with GC's

hotlink -> RE: Win2003 SP2 Blocked RUS(Recipient Update Service) - c0072141 (11.Jun.2007 4:24:06 AM)

What's GC?

I tested with my simulation as below:

Win03 SP2 DC (test.com) with Exchange 2003
Win03 SP1 Child DC (my.test.com)

At this stage everthing looks fine, after I upgrate (my.test.com) to Win03SP2 then the RUS will not working anymore. Parent DC will show error 8026, 8213, 8250, 8260, 8270 and so on.

If you re-create the RUS again then will keep on getting this error  c0072141

It's proven is SP2 issue, anyone can report to Microsoft?

Hmmm!!!....
The reason i suggested just becoz i faced the same problem in my child domain. My issue resolved when i promoted one of my child dc as Global Catalog Server.

My steps would be:
=============
Running Domainprep
2) Running Exbpa (www.exbpa.com) and will follow the suggestion recommended by microsoft.
3) Upgrading one dc to gc in child domain

hotlink -> RE: RUS - ID 8270 (11.Jun.2007 10:32:19 PM)

Hi, after I set GC and waiting about 7 hours now I can create RUS

but i keep on getting error Event ID 8270 (insufficient right)

any idea?

ismail.mohammed -> RE: RUS - ID 8270 (12.Jun.2007 4:15:42 AM)

It is good to hear that you are able to create RUS.
For 8270
This behavior may occur if you disabled the Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object check box on the Active Directory organizational unit that the accounts reside in.

But i am not sure, I would suggest you to paste the entire description so that i can come up with any solution i have.

How about EXBPA does it showing any error message. Please run it.

rerun domainrpep

This will reset the default permissions and let it replicate.

Because i believe default permission is missing

hotlink -> RE: RUS - ID 8270 (12.Jun.2007 5:33:30 AM)

rerun domainprep and recreate RUS in child the problem still is the same. [:@]

i try wait it until tomorrow see is it replication issue or what else.. [8|]

samjaffer -> RE: RUS - ID 8270 (17.Aug.2007 2:31:00 PM)

Ran into this issue yesterday. Same behavior. I dont know if you were able to resolve it but I got it working. Following is what I did:

1. Made the server that was failing in the RUS connection into a GC.
2. Added Domain Admins group of source domain to administrators group of target domain.
3. Forced KCC and Replication.
4. Re-ran domain prep.
5. Recreated the RUS connection and it finally worked.

Hope this helps as this issue is not well documented.

Thanks,

Sam.
