hi, i saw those reports. Winroute : It is showing correct path and link state information is getting recognized by exchange server Exbpa : 2nd one is showing very much, so no comment on this. EXTRA : what is proact domain? and i could it is not responding to Port 25, no pointer records for which computer : 192.168.1.200 Suggestion from my end: You need to check is there any smart host is there, if so need to bypass, and morever i have strong feeling on firewall part only because your telnetting is not working. You check that someother way round to bypass it, otherwise it will be round robin.

Hi, Proact domain is the domain of an e-mail address I tried to send a message to. 192.168.1.200 is the Exchange server. There is no smart host. Telnet is working, apart from sending a message to a different domain than bbse.no. Yes, it could well be that it is my firewall or that the ISP is using a smart host blocking all other domains. I will enquire about that now. I will let you know the outcome of this.

I just found the solution. My ISP is blocking outgoing port 25. We both should have guessed that, shouldn't we? Now, We need the SMTP-server to use port 25 for incoming mail to get in, but is there a way to use a different port, say port 26 for outgoing mail. If worst comes to worst, I can set up another server as a smart host and use port 26 on that? Do you have another suggestion? Know some software I can use to accomplish this?

I think I will try this: Change the listening port to 26 on the Exchange, then set a rule in my firewall to route incoming messages on port 25 to port 26 on the Exchange machine...

Yes, I just found out. Doesn't work. Only incoming. I think my only option is to find a smart host on the internet that can reroute my messages to port 25.

Hello, In the SMTP-server in System Manager, I entered my ISP's SMTP-server as a smarthost. In this way the outgoing mail is sent to their SMTP-server, and therefore it is not blocked, because this is the only allowed SMTP-server in their net. Understand?
