user1234321 -> duplicate emails (16.Jul.2007 6:36:37 AM)

i have sbs 2003 with all the lastest updates installed, but users get duplicate e-mails when the sender uses multiple reciepents. e.g. if some1 sends a mail to "user@foo.com; user1@foo.com" both user and user1 will get 2 mails. any ideas??
thanks

It seems  to be a problem with the mail provider. You need to check with your provider and see if they are able to change the way they handle your pop email.

i was afraid that you might say that, i host all my customers mail and web services at our place. any ideas what i need to change. the domain in question is setup as a catch all box.

thanks for the advice

hi,
Disable any archival features on the server.
Disable antivirus scanning both on the server and on the workstation. (This step should only be temporary as a test. Do not disable it permanently.)

bump

uemurad -> RE: duplicate emails (17.Jul.2007 9:24:07 AM)

Does this happen only for external addresses, or does it also happen for internal (within same SMTP domain) addresses?  Does it happen all the time, or intermittently?  If you were to include me on such a message (uemurad@yahoo.com), would you expect the same thing to happen?  If the message is addressed to three people, do three messages appear?

When you look at Message Tracking, does it show multiple deliveries?  Are the timestamps the same, or is there a time gap between the first and second messages?

user1234321 -> RE: duplicate emails (17.Jul.2007 2:19:35 PM)

internally mail is working fine. i'm using the pop3 connector to collact a catch all mail box. if some1 sends a mail to user@foo.com, user will recieve 1 mail. if some1 sends a mail to "user@foo.com; user1@foo.com" both user and user1 will recieve 2 mails.

thanks

user1234321 -> RE: duplicate emails (18.Jul.2007 4:39:03 AM)

tied that patch didn't make any dfference, it looks like it collecting 2 copy's of the mail from the server. has no had and cured this problem ???

user1234321 -> RE: duplicate emails (18.Jul.2007 12:01:59 PM)

has no1 had and cured this problem

a.grogan -> RE: duplicate emails (18.Jul.2007 1:04:58 PM)

User, just a silly question - is the outlook client also configured to bring down pop3 mail as well as connect to the Exchange server (e.g. is there a pop3 setting in the MAPI profile?)

Cheers

user1234321 -> RE: duplicate emails (18.Jul.2007 1:07:53 PM)

no nothing like that, since if noticed this problem i've discovered that all the sbs servers that i look after (that use the pop3 conector) have this problem

thanks
