Hi ery one,

I want to change the name of my exchange server from exchange.mycompany.com to mail.mycompany.com.My exchange server is also a domain controller.Well my exchange server work after changing its name or not??

You can't rename an exchange server

HI,
I think you are right i changed it then restart the computer but exchange stoped working then i rechanged it to the old name now it is OK.

I wanted to change it becuase my puplic domain name which is registered with ISP is different then the name of my exchange server(having local IP).this is causing me one problem when my internet is down i cannot send/recieve emails and i know y this happends because in outlook i have added account with puplic domain name not local exchange name or IP.when i add local exchange name it works fine BUT the problem is that when user go out side they have to change it settings in outlook.
How can i solve this issue??

renaming exchange server is not supported and this will break exchange server, I am suprise your server is still working after renaming and reverting it back to what it was.

Your local  DNS name Space should not casue you any troubles, you can change FQDN name on EHLO/HELO easily. follow the article below
