I recently deployed Exchange 2007 and am having a hard time getting access to my public folders from my Exchange 2000 domain.  Replication of the Public folders went well but now i get the following error from Exchange 2007:

Identity: mail1\Unreachable\1428
Subject: Status
Internet Message ID: <E9DFE017C9EA524082CF8CD9733E493D08B6D45D@mail1.advsyscon.com>
From Address: PublicFolderDatabase@advsyscon.com
Status: Suspended
Size (KB): 3
Message Source Name: FromLocal
Source IP: 255.255.255.255
SCL: -1
Date Received: 10/16/2007 8:15:02 AM
Expiration Time: 10/18/2007 8:15:02 AM
Last Error: There is currently no route to the mailbox database
Queue ID: mail1\Unreachable
Recipients:  ASCIMAIL-IS@advsyscon.com

I have tried to use the Management Shell command line set-PublicFolderDatabase and it constantly asks me for a Identity.  I enter my Mail Server name and it rejects it. (States my Exchange Server is not found on my DC.  Note: they are two separte machines)

Any thoughts?

Some questions to better understand your problem.

When we you getting this error? (running a shell command or opening EMC etc etc)

which server is ASCIMAIL? is it the 2007? looks like mails have gone into the unreachable queue.. Do you see that in the queue viewer?which server is ASCIMAIL? is it the 2007? its gone into the unreachable queue.. Do you see that in the queue viewer?

set-publicfolderdatabase needs an id of  "servername\publicfolderdatabasename".. that should run it.

Also will you be able to check and see if the ASCIMAIL PF store has got an email address? You can check that by going to the properties of the PF store in ADSIedit and look for proxyaddress.

thanks,

Actually -- ASCIMAIL is my EXCH2K System.   I have tried thru the EMC numerous times to use Set-publicfolderdatabase cmdlet and it tells me that the identity isn't found on my domain controller.

Currently ASCIMAIL is not accessible to view anything as after the migration the stores have dismounted and will not remount.

Also, I was able to move the pub1 and Priv1 (edb files) to my 2007 Exchange Server.  (Still unable to open them though)  EMS cmdlets state that my Exchange server isn't part of my DC when I try to use set-addresslist |forceupgrade

Well i dont really understand what you are trying to acheive. Are you trying to migrate PF data from E2K to E2K7? I thought replication worked?

Are we having problems accessing PF's from 2007 users outlook ?

Well looking into the error you had posted if ASCIMail is E2K the PF replication messages that are going to ASCIMAIL's pf store with an email address of ascimail-is@domain.com is failing with "There is currently no route to the mailbox database. This makes sense as your stores are down.

anyway please let us know your requirements.

thanks,

Currently, am unable to access them in Outlook 2k7.   I am unable to see them in GUI of Exch2K since the store will not remount.   My goal is to make them accessible by O2K7 and redirect them accordingly.

EMS cmdlets are not working at all and I am stumped on what to do.
Read numerous articles online about use EMS to attach them but none are working at all.

Okay making sense, so OL2k7 users who are unable to view PF's have their mailboxes on E2K7 correct? If that the case, do you see the PF's on E2K7 PF store using E2K ESM? Is the mailbox store on E2K7 using E2K7 PF store as their default PF store?

thanks,

Currently, the PFs do not show up in O2K7 in the ESM
All users are unable to view them since everyone was also upgraded to Office2k7 during upgrade.  The default store for PFs is the defaut one created by E2k7 during install.  When it prompted me whether or not there was a 2k3 version of Office that is still running.  Currently I have 2 such mailboxes not yuet upgraded.

I have Priv1.edb and Pub1.edb that I am trying to change the default DB to with no luck whatsoever.......   EMS just wont let it bind.

Here is the best way according to me. Find a way to mount the stores on E2K server, use a client connected to the E2K server and extract all PF's into a pst.

Use outlook connected to E2k7 and then import. verify permissions are set properly and now everyone should be able to see the PF's
