Yeah I also forgot where we were - You gave me a list of actions to take, and I got stuck on Set-OfflineAddressBook, the console gives me errors due to versioning of the offline address book. Get-OfflineAddressBook confirms that the version is still 6.5 for the address book.

quote:

Can you do a new-offlineaddressbook?  will it allow you to create one and what is the version?

I followed this example syntax from the MSDN - link -

[PS] C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN>New-OfflineAddressBook -Name "TESTOAB" -Server exserver.domain.domain.com -AddressLists $a -Schedule "Mon.01:00-Mon.2:00, Wed.01:00-Wed.02:00"

So a new addresslist creates as version 8.0.. qssfs is one of our domain controllers.

Turn off cached mode and check your address book in Outlook.  Anything?

I do not see the address book/list as an option from my client. When I go Tools -> Send/Recv -> Download address book - this error still appears: Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'The operation failed. An object cannot be found.'

The same was true for one of the users who was added as a new mailbox since the 2007 server was live and the only exchange server in the org.

On my client, the Global Address List is correct if I am not in Chached Mode.

My colleague and I have decided to wait for SP 1 and see if that helps anything before going around and switching client settings however.

I'll post here if SP 1 fixes our issue after its release.

Any related events in the Application log on the Exchange 2007 server?

Since that error code is very general you might want to check out Dave Goldman's blog. He is the OAB guy and provide a lot of OAB troubleshooting tips over there:

It sounds like OABGen doesn't run properly. Again there's a lot of info about OAB issues on the mentioned blog.

Did you get this fixed yet?
I also have this issue with Outlook 2003 clients only.
If I run oabinteg /s:mailserver/t:hierarchylist /v:2 /l it fails with
Opening the Exchange Public Folder Store.
Retrieving the message store table.
Obtaining store table properties.
WARNING: Unable to retrieve properties from the store table.

Possible causes for these warnings and/or errors:
1. Your public information store is offline.
Please check the exchange information store service to see if the service is started, and
or check the (ESM) Exchange System Manager to see if the public information store is mount
ed.
2. You are using a cached profile for your query. Please use an Online profile.
GetOabFolderRoot Failure: hr = 0x80004005
MAPI Error = E_FAIL: General access denied error.

OABInteg-Admin_11:26:34 AM profile was found and deleted from the Windows Messaging Subsys
tem.
Logoff of profile sucessfull.
Closing MAPI session.
The MAPI subsystem was un-initialized successfully.
c:\OABinteg.txt has been closed.

Im just running on exchange 2007 and Autodiscover and OA works fine.
But still some Outlook clients get this message both on the Lan and working remotely.

That is a very different issue than this thread - I would guess something with the send / receive connector not pointing to the 07 server? The blog is related to address book, not mail flow.

I was just clarifying the status of the the E03 server.
We both have the same issue in that we both get the 0X8004010F error when downloading hte address book.
My client also fails when trying to connect using
oabinteg /s:mailserver /t:hierarchylist /v:2 /l
oabinteg /s:mailserver /t:oabfldcheck /v:2 /l

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Transitioning-Exchange-2000-2003-Exchange-Server-2007-Part3.html

Even though you still have legacy Outlook clients (Outlook 2003 and earlier) in your organization, you don’t need to set up a replica for the SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY or the OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK system folder. This will be done automatically when deploying an Exchange 2007 Server in a legacy Exchange organization.
-------------------------------------

I setup the replica and replicated all PF's and now have dismounted the PF on E2003 server.
Some Outlook 2003 clients are still getting the message -
Does re-creating the "Default Offline Address List" over come this issue?
-------------------------------------
Using ESM on the E2003 server and choosing the E2007 server I can see all the OAB and offline public folders.
And looking at the properties which I can see for all the folders i.e
/NON_IPM_SUBTREE/OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK/EX:/o=OU-Name/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/
And now when I double click on the following folder I get the following error:
The mail proxy for this folder can not be found. This may be due to replication delays. The mail enabled pages will not be shown.
ID no: c1038a21
Exchange system manager

/NON_IPM_SUBTREE/OFFLINE ADDRESS BOOK//o=OU-Name/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List/

Found the following article kb328740 and cant seem to find the PR_PF_PROXY

Can I fix this issue without mounting up my old PF stores?

After a bit of searching the Blog - this is topic is exactly my problem:

http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2006/07/03/New-Active-Directory-objects-are-not-showing-after-Cached-Mode-clients-download-the-OAB.aspx

But the solution is to edit the registry and Outlook settings on the Client.. I'm running a pure Outlook 2007 on Windows XP sp2, single Exchange 2007 sp1 server on Windows 2003 R2 Standard x64 sp2.. probably the most basic setup an organization can possibly have.. Why should I have to go around and edit 50 registrys..? Or even writing a logon script to edit the registrys? This should be out of the box ready.

There must be something else I can do. There are other problems I think with my server's configuration, I'll keep reading.

I had a similar problem and it pretty well drove me out of my gourd.

Forgive me if this has already been tried, I went through the other posts pretty quick.

What I had to do was in the EMC, go to Organization Configuration/Mailbox/Offline Address Book, and create a new offline address book that included the Global Address List.

Go to Server Configuration/Mailbox/Database Management, and right-click a mailbox database, then go to properties/client settings. Click "browse" on the offline address book dropdown, and select the newly created offline address book. This new offline address book might take a few minutes to propogate.

On a client, get out of Outlook and open it up again and see if you are still getting the "object not found" error when trying to download the OAB.

If this works you will of course need to apply it to all mail databases that you are using.
