pfowler -> Recovery Storage Group/Information Store Issues (20.Nov.2007 11:39:28 AM)

Hello everyone,
I had to restore a mail store the other day. After restoring, I tried to dismount the store from the Recovery Storage Group. The dismount hung at 66% and I let it sit there for about 45 minutes. I finally gave up and closed Exchange System Manager.
Upon reopening Exchange System Manager, it appeard that the mail store was dismounted. However, when I tried deleting the mail store, I received this error:
"Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is busy. ID no c104173c Exchange System Manager"
I tried running eseutil but I receive file access denied errors. I also tried running isinteg but received an error message stating: "Isinteg cannot initiate verification process."
Here is what I am planning to do next, but wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether or not this will work:
  • I am going to stop the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.
  • Delete the mail store from the Recovery Storage Group
  • Delete the files associated with the mail store
  • Restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service

Does anyone see any issues with my game plan? Is there anything else I can do? I am really worried about the Information Store service restarting properly. If it does not, what are my options? Thank you!

Paul

Sorry, I just realized I posted this in the Exchange 2000 forum and I am running Exchange 2003 SP2. I just reposted it in the correct forum.
