Hi,

Does anyone know if, or how, Exchange 2007 can be setup to function as its own email host? What I want to achive is the ability to receive emails without using a email hosting company. Are there any good articles?

Exchange has been set up as a   server.mydomain.local PDC and I own the domain mydomain.co.uk. I can send via the name@mydomain.co.uk OK.

Thank You
Paul

to receive mail setup an MX record on the internet for your domain and point the ip address to the natted external ip address for your Edge Sync Exchange 2007 server.

Open port 25 from your firewall/router to the edge sync server.

I would presume you have both the domains added in your email address policy (orig. known as recipient policy), cause even if you allow the ISP to re-direct the emails to your server. You would have to have AD objects to get the messages delivered to them.

Apart from that you could set up a configuration as explained by rishi.

Thanks for the info guys,

I was thinking about hosting the email site myself, so I need to find out if you can setup your own MX records from your own server and publish the MX records to the internet so can be found for inbound mail.

I only run Excahng 2007 on Server 2003.. No Edge Server

Thank You
Paul
