Hi, I'm new to the Forum and new to Exchange.  For about 15 years now I have setup and used (relatively simple) mail servers with great reliability and success.  I'm now in an environment where group calendairng is very important and steep educational pricing discounts make Exchange's features too hard to resist.  So we bought it and are in the process of testing for a Jan 1. roll-out.  Everything was going OK until we moved the server to the DMZ of our firewall.  Although all ports were opened (for testing) between the LAN and the DMZ, the Exchange 2007 server could no longer authenticate with the Win2k3 active directory server on the LAN.  My assistant found a setting in the AD users and computers to "trust this computer for delegation".  When that radio button is selected, all seems to be normal again.  But this really worries me because I have no idea why it worked and what the implications are.

We are a small organization with about 50 users and only have one Exchange server (no ISA server, no Edge server, etc.)  I've been very frustrated with the difficulty in getting the server configured and running.  Most all the info out there is for huge implementations with multiple servers.  Can anyone recommend a book for implementing Exchange in a small, single-server environment?  And can anyone explain why the server will not seem to work correctly on the DMZ?  Do people not locate their Exchange servers on the DMZ???

Thanks for any info!
