Hi
I am totally new to managing an Exchange server so forgive the possible naitivity of my question.
One of our users has a Blackberry device and has noticed that some messages which he is receiving on his Blackberry are not showing up in his Inbox in Outlook.
Messages are forwarded to the Blackberry by forwarding messages sent to his Mailbox to a Mail Contact with the appropriate Blackberry e-mail address. The 'Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox' box is checked in the Mailflow Tab/ delivery options.
I have done a message track which shows the following events:
Event                Source
Receive             Storedriver
Redirect             Routing

Redirect             Routing
Transfer             Routing
Transfer             Routing
Transfer             Routing
Deliver               Storedriver
Send                 SMPT
Submit               Storedriver

Now, to my inexperienced eye, this looks like the message coming in, being forwarded and stored in the mailbox!

Is there a way for me to actually examine the users mailbox and check for the message ID and see if it is in there. Which if it is would indicate an Outlook or User problem?

Exchange or Outlook might be detecting the message as Junk and dumping the message into the Junk Mail Folder.

Does it appear in there?

Upon Investigation it would appear that this problem is not limited to one mailbox :(
The message I tracked does not appear in the Junk e-mail folder of the user.
This morning, an e-mail was sent to one of our enquiry mailboxes. Again Message Tracking shows it arriving but is not showing up in the Outlook Mailbox. This mailbox does not appear to have a junk folder at all. Is this a configurable option?

Is there a way to search on the message ID and see where the message actually is?

The fact that you use Mail Contact forwarding on a mailbox to deliver a mail to the blackberry means the message would have to arrive in the Mailstore before this can happen.

What do you see in OWA?

What about if you diabled Cached mode in Outlook?

The messages do not appear when logged in via OWA (tho the Junk folder does - and they are not in there)

Disabling Cached Mode makes no difference. In fact the user with the Blackberry was already running without Cached mode.
