I am archiving legacy data into evvault. I am currently running EX2003sp2 in domain "A". we are trying to restore a  legacy IS store from tape onto another server in domain "A". When restored to the legacy server, I can replay the logs and mount the store. but it dismounts when trying to use Exmerge. When trying to re-mount the Store it says it is "replicating". (The plan was to mount the store and use Exmerge to creat PST files to move to the Vault)
Is this the best scenario to restore legacy data in this situation or is the legacy store conflicting with the production environment?

hi,

Whenever we need to restore org, administrative group and server name should be same (Recommeded option)
I won't say that it won't support because it was working for me sometime ago. But recommendation is not to do that.
Why don't you try to create a same server in the test lab and try to pull out the data.

Anyway, r u getting any error in application log?
if so can u post that one also.

No errors in Event log!
We were in the process of creating test lab, but needed the hardware for other projects.
Do you think there is a conflict with the PD, causing the legacy IS to dismount?

i am not sure abot that...i can tell you whether that could be a cause.

Do you have any information of your old server in the AD? if so then there might be possiblities what you are saying.

One more thing: what happen if you try to connect any one mailbox through outlook and take pst from there?

Also, the production server has always been active. the legacy server was just created. so there is info for the production server in AD, and the legacy exchange server is setup as a second server in the forest.

Thanks
