ANSI pst limit is 2 GB.  Unicode limit is 20 GB by default.  If you do decide to go with exmerge, the psts names must match the mailnickname like Sembee mentioned

Thanks for the assistance/guidance.  To make things easiest on me would this make sense.

Have them name the pst as their new log in here. ie. first intial, last name, .pst.  Take those files adn drop them into the correct home folder, so only the correct person can access the file, and then use the import function in Outlook.

I could drop the pst's onto one of the citrix servers and then log on as them , on that one server and do it for them.  If they log on they could end up on 1 of 6 Citrix servers so that is why I thought of putting the pst in their home folder.  From reading replies that could result in corruption as they would be accessing them over the network.

Thanks again,

Ok, this thing finally starts Monday.  Hopefully someone can reply to my last reply.  It appears what they have done is take their outlook.pst and put them in folders named as themselves so I would know which .pst belongs to who.   They put all these on a portable drive which is being sent back to me.  The file name for thepst appears to be outlook.pst though it may be backup.pst.  I'm not sure it is  named first initial/last name like their new login.  I'm also not sure if it was saved as ANSI or Unicode.

Thanks

Your last message seemed like a statement, not a question, which is why no one responded to it.

PST files on a network share is a very bad idea. If the files are being sent to you then you could import them using exmerge. The files will be renamed to match the alias on the accounts.

Simon.

Instead of going through all this hassle, why not use Migration Manager for Exchange, then you have full collaboration from source to target in both Exchange orgs with calendaring, free busy and public folder replication with a staged mailbox migration process. with happy users too!

I ran an exmerge test and it didn't work.  I acutually ran the test twice.  Here is what I did.

I created a test user (test2) with an exchange mailbox.  I made sure it could send and receive email.  I then took a copy of a pst and renamed it test2.pst.  I left it on a storage server. I ran exmerge and got a failure.  I read the log but didn't really understand what is was telling me.  I then moved the test2.pst and put it directly on the exchange server and ran exmerge again.  It too failed.

This is what the logs shows on the second failure.  I changed the instances where it showed the name of our exchange server to "exchange server name', etc..

Looks like a permission error.
Does the account you are running exmerge under have permissions to access the mailbox? Being the administrator account is NOT enough, as administrator is actually blocked from access by default.
If you are going to use exmerge then I usually recommend a dedicated account and workstation setup for the process. http://www.amset.info/exchange/mailboxaccount.asp
