I thought of using an external USB hard drive for my LCR storage.  I can get a drive with enough capacity, but wondered about the speed in case I needed to restore the database.  Currently my Ex2000 database is 80GB.  I have not migrated to Ex2007 yet.

Any thoughts or experiences?

usb2 works just fine.
It's a backup, remember that.
For a data source to limp along on whilst you repair whatever caused the need to use the LCR USB is just fine.

If you do it right, you can have two of them, and swap them out so you can have one of them off site.
