Hi. I have a problem regards email sitting in exchange queues when messages are sent via application running on a Linux Server? To test I logged into the application and sent an email to both an internal and external address. The internal email arrived OK. The external mail sits in the queue: hotmail.com (also a number of emails sit in aol.com but thats another issue!) Back to point. The application also required me to enable the Default POP3 Virtual Server. With this limited information can anyone assist? Regards, Phil. PS: I have disabled AV software from scanning the SMTP

Whats the application actually doing? Have you made any changes to your Connectors or Default SMTP Service?

The application 'FogBugz' is used to monitor software revisions. Nothing has changed regards the SMTP server? Phil.

You say that messages are sent via the application. How have you implemented this?

Entry within dns (alias c name) mail (points to exchange server). Linux server references this. Phil.

Is this affecting all outbound external mail then? I would suspect that the DNS change has had a knock on effect somewhere, as you say SMTP or routing has not been changed, and that the POP3 connector is perhaps a bit of a red herring.

No just the emails sent from the application. Have managed to send one out...................then others sit there? Will keep testing. Phil.

Ah get you now... Do you get any NDRs or Error messages? Also, is the address its sending from a valid address in your domain? Could be a Relay Setting or Authentication problem relating to that one machine.

Did u configure ur external DNS address under Default SMTP Virtual Svr--> right click "properties" --> advanced --> configure?

I have just configured logging I will post back. I created a Connector. Email disappeared from the queue (delivered). I then attempted to send new mail. Just sat in the queue!! Removed new connector email disappeared from the queue!! Phil.

Just to confirm the following... Mail sent internally from Exchange = fine Mail sent externally from Exchange = fine Mail sent to you from external source = fine Mail sent internally from Linux via Exchange = fine Mail sent externally from Linux via Exchange = problem

I had same problem before when I firstly install exchange svr 2003 and problem is solved after I configured external DNS address. MTK

External DNS made no difference. I added a new connector (no smart host, using DNS) with address space for the 3 domains mentioned. This appeared to have worked but not any longer!! Email to hotmail flys out via the connector the others remain in thre queue. SMTP records Response:451 timeout (#4.4.2). Phil.

Still scratching my head on this one guys? Exchange SMTP Virtual Server queue records: "The connection was dropped by the remote host." Read somewhere regards Bare Line feeds (mail is being forwarded by Linux to exchange) maybe an issue with the format?
