I´m afraid no, the fact is when I run ADC from 5.5 to AD, it creates a contact (or a disabled account) instead of matching the existing one. Then msExchADCGlobalNames in the existing account keeps <not set>. I think that if ADC would configure that attribute, running ADC from AD to 5.5 would create the contact properly. I´ll try to do it manually, check if it works, and then guess what is happening with ADC.

Another question about CA from AD to 5.5: I am connecting AD DC with the 5.5 server that homes the recipients, should I connect with the ones that have the Internet Connectors?, I think it doesnt matter, but I´m getting lost!!`

Thanks.

This ADC will create a account or disable user account based on the setting you have... if you have already account existing in the AD then it will associate with it and if you have more then one mailbox associated then disabled user account.

For CA you don't require to have internet connection.

I´m doing something wrong, because I create one user in AD, with mailbox in 5.5, and when I run ADC, it creates a disables account or a contact. But, with actual users (account in AD, mailbox in 5.5), it runs OK. But I cannot use one of those. The fact is that I´m not doing tests properly, and don´t know why.

I found out one of the problems, due to copy users instead of creating new. What am I doing now:
- create new user in AD
- create new mailbox in 5.5
- link mailbox with new account
- run ADC against DA: MsExchGlobalNames filled
- stop ADC
- migrate mailbox to Exchange 2003
At this point, sending an e-mail to the new user get an error of ambiguous name (5.5 and 2k3). (Note: mail from internet comes through 5.5 and should go to 2003).Then:
- delete 5.5 mailbox
At this point, sending an e-mail to the new user get an error of unknown recipient (5.5 doesn´t know the recipient). Then:
- run ADC against 5.5: it creates a contact that should tell 5.5 that mailbox is in 2003, am I right???

Following those steps I find a loop. I am sharing the same address space in 5.5 and 2003, shuold I configure 5.5 to send mail to 2003? If I configure "E-mail domain" in "Connections" tab of "Internet Mail Service" to the IP address of exchange 2003 server, 5.5 will try to send all through this, or will first look in 5.5 directory...?

Hi again,

I´ve read that with Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321721/en-us), when you have several mail systems sharing the same SMTP address space, the only one you cannot share is the one for which it is authoritative. What about Exchange 5.5? I´m going to configure Exchnage 5.5 to send mail belonging to one of the address spaces to Exchange 2003, but what happens if I want to share the address space for which it is athoritative? Will it run, or shall I configure an alternative one as authoritative?

Hi mate,

The problem was a different one, I didn´t define the proper reciepient policies in exchange 2003 organization, so that it didn´t recognize the address space. Once I defined them, unchecking the domain to be authoritative, everithing works properly.

Thnaks.

Hi mate, I´m finding more problems...

First question: when I migrate a mailbox from 5.5 to 2003, then I delete 5.5 recipient and run ADC from AD to 5.5 in order to create a custom recipient in 5.5. I have a problem with distribution lists: if the user belonged to a 5.5 distribution list, after migration he doesn´t. I cannot migrate all users at once, can I have "mixed" distribution lists? how?

Morover, which is the best method to migrate distribution lists?

Thnaks again.
