HI
I am moving all the Mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007
But I have a Q Regarding to the Public folder
is there any problem if I use the PFMigration to move the system Folder from the old exchange to the new exchange
I know that this is not important
but just want to ensure that all the required system folder and information the exchange need has been moved
other than the users public folder
what are the system folder that should I replicat
this is apply on that there is Outlook 2003 -2007
I move the RUS and the OAB to Ex2007
is there any other thing should be moved (other than the Mailbox)
Thanks

pfmigrate is just a script - nothing more. It doesn't do anything special and you can migrate the content manually by adding the new server to the list of replicas. In that respect there is no reason why pfmigrate shouldn't work.

As for what folders need to be replicated, as far I am concerned, it hasn't changed from Exchange 2003:
Offline Address Book (OAB) - don't forget the sub folders
Schedule + Free Busy
Organization Forms

So unlike Moving from exchange 2003 to another exchange 2003 .. there is a lot of public folder that should be replicated
in Ex 2007 the Free/ Busy service should be replicated only

another thing please
I am preparing also to remove the public folder and move to SharePoint
But is there anyway to do easilly or this should be a manual step
My Public folder is ABOUT 6 GB

Thanks

What do you mean "unlike Moving from exchange 2003 to another exchange 2003"?
With Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2003 you had to replicate the same public and system folders to the new server. If you did not then you would cause problems. The same public and system folders that were required on an Exchange 2003 server have to be migrated to the Exchange 2007 server if you are supporting Outlook 2003 or older.

A 6gb public folder store is tiny. I have 10gb at home alone (and that server only has one user).

I cannot answer about Sharepoint as I have very little to do with Sharepoint. I still believe that Public Folders are a better solution than Sharepoint for many things.

Hi
What I mean is When moving your system from an old exchange server to a new exchange server and the remove the old exchange server
in this case and as I know there is alot of public folder that should be replicated manually

Thanks
