hi,

i'm new comer in exchange 2007.Can some one help me....

Failed to mount database 'Mailbox Database'

Error:

Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified database:0f770558-4961-4a57-9008-2549f8f19116;Error Code:MapiExceptionCallfailed:Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005,ec=-528)

hi,

First thing...
stop inforamtion store
clear the application log
then check eseutil /mh on the database "to know the status of databse whether it is clean or dirty shutdown.
Then select the option "Do not mount the store"
Start the information
Then mount the database.
see the application log and post that error message

It seems you have deleted the log file which has not been written into database.
If the database has been shut down correctly (clean shutdown), please moved the Checkpoint file and all Logfiles to a different folder and try to mount database again. If the database has not been shut down correctly (dirty shutdown). You may need either to restore the database with the recent backup file Or you need to do a database repair.

If you don’t have recent backup file, try to repair corrupt database file by using the following method:

Using built-in Eseutil command line tool: You can fix the database file with the following steps:

i. Firstly, try soft repair (eseutil /r).
ii. Run eseutil.exe /mh command to check database consistency again.
iii. If Soft repair doesn’t work try hard repair (eseutil /p)
iv. Defragment the Exchange server database by running this command: (eseutil /d)   
v. Check database Integrity by running this command: [isinteg -s "servername" -test alltests]
vi. You need to run these command until all errors have level 0 or the status has no changes. (in my case, it takes 2-3 rounds to fix all errors )

Microsoft provides some free utilities, named as Eseutil.exe, Exmerge.exe and Export-Mailbox. These tools convert EDB to PST and extract the user mailboxes in .PST file format. However in case of severely corruption, these tools may fails. The best way to handle this situation is using some advanced third party EDB to PST **** software. There are two possible solution for the above problem first is to repair the database using soft recovery (if it is suffers from dirty shutdown problem) using eseutil /r command or you can also perform hard recovery using eseutil /p.
But most of the time these methods as recommended by Microsoft doesn't work and failed to repair and mount the database due to over corruption of database. In that case you can try out EDB **** which is especially designed to solve issues when eseutil failed to operate.

Please, transfer all the log files and folders from the database edb file location to another folder, then checked the box to allow the database to be overwritten by a restore and try mounting the stores.
