vane0326 -> No outside emails comming through. (3.Mar.2008 4:49:03 PM)

I have Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5.

The problem is we're not recieving any outside emails or sending. We could send and recieve emails internally but nonthing from outside. I went to our exchange server and I get a error message.

"MSexcimc.exe - Corrupt file

The file or directory\exchsrvr\imcdata\Log is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk Utility"

I went to the command line and typed in Chkdsk and hit enter. It ran and restarted the server and still get the error message and not recieving outside emails.

Does anyone has a solution for this?

Restore that file from your last good system backup.

We're not backing up the exchange server. Is there any way to fix this?

No backup of a production machine?

Now you know why backups are important.

Your options are limited.  You could do a ghost install on a clean server, and then transfer the new version of the corrupt file over to the existing server.

Thanks zbnet for the help. Where ending up buying a brand new server starting from scratch.

Using Windows 2003 server with Exchange server 2007.

I found these links on your website...

Part 2

These are very explanatory. But are there any difficulties I should know and if so what are some of the solutions?

For an idea about the current issues with an Exchange 2007 installation, I suggest you spend some time reading the Forums on here that relate to Outlook 2007.

SP1 for Exchange 2007 adds quite a bit of extra functionality, you might want to investigate that.  http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/default.mspx
