Not sure what angle you are asking from so here's both: 1. Public folder referals go direct from server to server. 2. Public folder replication is done through the relevant bridgehead because replication messages are normal SMTP traffic that is handled as normal. 3. Remember (just in case you hadn't) that you can't have a PF on an FE but a Bridgehead does not necessarily need to be a FE.
