Hi Guys,

I still want to test my exchange Backup. On my production network, i  have one server for my AD and another for my exchange.

I want to restore my exchange backup on one spare Server. Wht  next should i do.

Can  I restore my System state from the  live server on the spare and than installed exchange on  top of my AD and restore the exchange backup. I want to test my Backup.

hi mate,

system state backup will have the registry information as well. Moreover when you are performing restore your spare server should have the same identical name of as like you add in the Production server.

If you want to test your backup you can do it on production environment by going with recovery storage group method. (sorry you can do this only after the release of exchange 2003)

If you want to test in the lab.
Bring one server in the production and make it as a DC and let this get replicated with the production completely.
Remove this server from the Production
Bring to lab network
Seize the FSMO role
bring another server it should have same name as like production exchange server and identical OS and SP
then run /disasterrecovery switch
Restore the backup
